The Multinstrumental Show
He was born on 26 July 1978 in General Pico, in La Pampa, Argentina; and he settled down in San Luis. From his childhood he remembers waking up and listen to “The King” and “The Beatles”. After that at the age of 10 he learnt how to play the guitar and wrote his first song, and this unleashed his Rock ‘n’ roll taste. At the age of 14 he created his first teenage band, being him the drummer, but later he became the lead guitar and singer, and he was able to sing his songs and his favorite tunes. In his long musical career he recorded several songs written by him, along with some Argentinean musicians, among them some recordings with friends, cousins, uncles and his own father and brother. He got a degree as a Musical Producer which led him to build his own recording studio called “El Ciclo”, giving artists the possibility to record their music with a high quality of sound. His last project was his solo career with his band “La Babel”, with 2 records. Now he is living in Spain enjoying his new project “Cabeytu Brothers”.
Many years ago, in San Luis, Argentina, when I was an adolescent in the mid ‘80s, one of my great passions was to listen to music. I had vinyl records and cassettes by The Beatles, Creedance Clearwater revival and Bruce Springsteen amongst others, and by Argentine soloists and groups such as Charly Garcia, Miguel Mateos and GIT.
All this music had a big influence on my youngest brothers, Cristian and Diego, now that they had started to listen to my records and cassettes - until they wore them out.
As a result Cristian started to learn to play guitar and with some other pals formed the band “Tren Electrico”, with Roi Macias and the Delcuadro brothers. A short while later Diego was so desperate to join the group that he bought a drum kit (the most expensive rock instrument) and within months was able to join the band, playing with them in the local pubs and bars.
Later Cristian, Diego (who was still playing drums) and their bassist, Alejandro Ochoa, formed “La Puesta” (The Sunset), playing rock and pop anthems in Spanish and English.
By the end of the ‘90s my brothers had founded “Por donde no pasa el tren” (Where the train doesn’t pass). I suppose the name came about as a result of the poor government policies in Argentina at the time - the train didn’t go to San Luis. With Cristian and Diego on guitars and vocals, the quintet took various formations with Alejandro Ochoa, Javier Bentivegna, Soledad Fernandez Solis and Claudio Vazquez, amongst others.
At the same time this group was formed my brothers also formed the duo “Liverpool” where they paid homage principally to The Beatles and other top English language rock groups.
The first and only CD by “Por donde no pasa el tren” called “Un lugar” (A Place) had broadcast-style songcuts of the songs “Algun lugar deber haber” (There has to be somewhere) and “Maldita razon” (Damn right) which was the opening theme of the magazine programme “El expreso de medianoche” (The Midnight Express), broadcast by a San Luis channel. Furthermore, the CD contained songs that were all composed by my brothers, in Spanish of course.
The group also took part in a music festival which took place in “The Cavern” in Buenos Aires, the capital city of Argentina.
Eventually Diego left the band and formed the trio “La Babel” with the De Marco brothers. Cristian continued to front “Por donde no pasa el tren” touring San Luis and other provinces.
Diego dissolved “La Babel” and reformed, once again, the duo “Liverpool” with Jose Flores, where they played in various corners of the San Luis province.
In the middle of 2004 “Por donde no pasa el tren” disbanded and the idea started to grow that Cristian and Diego might go to Spain to try their luck with music. Neither of them was exactly incapable and they both had many years of experience appearing on stage.
A few months before emigrating my brothers formed a duo and took the name “Cabeytu”.
It was very sad that day of the 14th of May 2005 when they left for Europe, for me, my parents, my siblings and the rest of the family such as uncles and aunts, cousins and grandparents. It also left a huge vacuum in the musical environment, they were always around playing their songs, and they did them so well, so very well.
In 2008 I visited Benidorm and I saw them on stage. I was very moved, after nearly four years, to see them play that first night in Daytona Rock.
It was very emotional and overwhelming to see them again. It was incredible how much they had developed. To be honest it was a massive surprise to see how professionally they presented their show, their meticulous use of lighting and the marvellous themes they interpreted in each and every show. I saw the passion they carried with them on stage and all with their incredible professionalism.
I enjoyed all their shows during my holiday. I also loved the show they performed with Leah Kankowski, where they paid tribute to Shania Twain, with my brothers playing their guitars and violins.
I am so proud of what Cristian and Diego are achieving now, after all their years of hard work. I would like to congratulate my brothers on their UK Tour. I wish them every success and I hope that you too enjoy their show!.... It’s a dream come true for them.....and the story continues....
